Abstinence is to be observed by all Catholics 14 years old and older on Ash Wednesday and all theFridays of Lent.
Fasting is to be observed on ASh Wednesday and Good Friday by all
Catholics who are 18 years of age and are under 59 years of age.
Those who are bound to this are to take only one full meal.
Two smaller meals are permitted if needed to maintain strength
according to one's needs but eating between meals is not permitted.
Catholics should not lightly excuse themsleves from these prescribed minimal penitential practices.
