Christian Formation Overview

Christian Formation is part of our ongoing Christian journey. Being “formed in faith” means we are growing in our relationship with Jesus Christ, learning more about our faith, living it out in the world.

Christian Formation involves many opportunities: learning more about the teachings of the Church, connecting with other parishioners, becoming more deeply rooted in Scripture and Tradition, deepening our prayer lives, receiving the Sacraments, and incorporating our faith in our daily lives.

We invite you to join us in delving into the richness of our Catholic faith. You’ll be surprised at just how much our Church can bring to your life, and how much your life enriches ours!

All our adult offerings are located in the drop down menu on the left hand menu bar of the page. If you are looking for formation opportunities for your child or teen, visit our youth ministry program, East Side Child and Youth Ministry.  You may also visit our page for Catholic East Elementary, our parish school.

If you have any suggestions for things you’d like to learn about or see offered at Three Holy Women, please contact Emily Kang, Director of Adult Formation and Evangelization at 414-271-6577 or ekang@threeholywomen.org .

Getting Involved in Adult Formation

There are a variety of ways to get involved in Christian Formation. One is by growing in your faith and attending formation events. This is a key way to get invovled in our parish and help our community grow. The other is by joining a committee or team and help run the various components of Christian Formation.

Being Formed in Faith: Attending Formation Events

We are one Body of Christ, so each person’s commitment to continuing to grow how they live and understand their faith helps our entire community. Let us know how you want to grow in your faith, and watch the website and bulletin for upcoming formation opportunities.

Some of the ways of getting involved include:

* Bible study and Scripture sharing
* Learning more about the teachings of the Church
* Workshops (one day) and formation series (4 or 8 weeks)
* Events for Young Adults
* Sacramental Preparation (becoming Catholic, or receving Confirmation)

Click on the dropdown menu under Christian Formation on the left to find out what’s going on and locate something that fits your interests. Can’t find something? Let us know what you are looking for, and we’ll contact you with future opportunities! We hope to see you soon.

Ministering to Others: Committees and Teams in Christian Formation

We have a variety of advisory committees and teams that help run events, and in which people minister to others. Contact Emily Kang, ekang@threeholywomen.org or 414-271-3577 , for more information.

Christian Formation Committee: This group oversees the direction of parish educational and formation ministries and makes recommendations of potential projects and programs. We seek parishioners who are committed to their faith and desire to find more ways to address the formation needs and interests of our parishioners. The committee usually meets once every few months. Other time commitments vary depending on interest.

Rite of Christian Initiation (RCIA) Ministries: All involved in RCIA ministries support the preparation process for people who are interested in becoming Catholic. The RCIA process includes prayer, Bible study, classes on Catholic basics, service, and celebrating Baptism, Confirmation, and the Eucharist. RCIA team members commit to helping seekers through the process. Team members commit to attending weekly meetings, witnessing to the faith of the Church, and providing support for participants. Team member roles may include hospitality, serving as sponsors, helping to lead small groups, providing Christian witness, and /or helping to leading Breaking Open the Word sessions. Time commitment: two and a half hours each Tuesday evening from late August through Pentecost. Time commitment may vary according to roles.

Confirmation Sponsors: From late winter through Spring, the Church prepares Catholic adults to celebrate the Sacrament of Confirmation. This process includes “refresher” classes and prayer opportunities, in collaboration with Riverbank Catholic Connection parishes. We seek Spirit-filled and faithful parishioners to sponsor these candidates. Time commitment: two hours every other week from January through Pentecost.

Theology-on-Tap and Eat, Drink and Be Catholic Team: These Young Adult Ministry teams plan topics, suggest speakers, develop publicity, and provide hospitality for this discussion series targeted to people in their 20s and 30s. The series is offered for four weeks every summer and again six evenings throughout the year. We seek energetic young Catholics who seek to bring Christ to young adults in our area. Join us for this fun team, and meet other young Catholics seeking to grow in their faith. Time commitment: attendance at most TOT or ED&BC evenings (once per month on Monday evenings during the winter, and/or every Monday in July).

To find our more about any of these committees or teams and see if they are a good match for you, contact Emily Kang, ekang@threeholywomen.org or 414-271-6577.
